Are Cozy Earth Pajamas Good for Night Sweats?

Oct 15, 2026Katya Eckert

If you run a little warm and want a soft, classic matching set, Cozy Earth pajamas are a comfortable choice. If you wake up drenched most nights, read the fiber content before the reviews. Their bamboo set is 95% viscose, and regular viscose is about half as strong wet as it is dry. Sleepwear you sweat into every night and wash every few days spends much of its life wet, which is exactly when that weakness shows.

I started A DOMANI after postpartum night sweats and two years of researching fabric, so the fiber label is the first thing I read. Here's what this one tells you.

What does Cozy Earth do well?

Cozy Earth is very good at the gift. The button-front sets look the way people picture pajamas, sizes run XS to 3X, and the fabric has the buttery hand the brand is known for. If you sleep comfortably and want something soft to change into, that's a fine reason to buy.

What are Cozy Earth pajamas made of?

The Women's Bamboo Stretch-Knit Long Sleeve Pajama Set is 95% viscose from bamboo and 5% spandex. The word that matters on that label is viscose.

Bamboo isn't a fiber. It's a plant, and the plant is only where the cellulose came from. To make the fabric, the pulp is dissolved with sodium hydroxide and carbon disulfide and spun into new filaments. What comes out is viscose, also called rayon, and none of the bamboo plant is left in it. The fabric behaves like any other viscose, because that's what it is.

The Federal Trade Commission has spent more than a decade enforcing that point. Since 2009 it has brought cases against retailers that labeled rayon as "bamboo" or sold it as eco-friendly. In 2013, Amazon, Macy's, Sears and Leon Max paid $1.26 million in penalties. In 2015, Bed Bath & Beyond, Nordstrom, J.C. Penney and Backcountry.com paid $1.3 million. In 2022, Kohl's and Walmart paid $5.5 million. The rule behind all of it is simple: a fabric is labeled by its fiber, and the fiber is rayon or viscose.

What happens to viscose when you sweat in it?

Regular viscose is about half as strong wet as it is dry. A 2018 review in the journal BioResources found lyocell roughly twice as strong as viscose when dry and three times as strong when wet. It also described regular rayon as unstable when wet, prone to stretching or shrinking. Modal was developed to fix exactly that. It's a high wet modulus fiber, so it holds its shape when wet much more the way cotton does.

For night sweats, this matters more than anything on the hang tag. Cooling and drying depend on the fabric keeping its structure: smooth fibers, an even knit, and a surface that lets moisture move through and leave. A fiber that weakens whenever it's wet takes a small hit every night you sweat into it and every time it's washed. Over time the surface roughens and pills, the knit relaxes, and the fabric starts holding warmth and damp against your skin. If you've owned a set that felt cool and slick for the first few weeks and then didn't, this is a likely reason.

Does closed-loop processing make a difference?

It matters most for the planet, and it's worth getting right. TENCEL™ Lyocell is made in a closed loop that recovers more than 99% of its solvent. TENCEL™ Modal uses a modified viscose process with high chemical recovery, so it's cleaner and safer than generic viscose. Conventional viscose recovers roughly 70 to 75% of its carbon disulfide, according to the same BioResources review. A label that only says "bamboo" or "viscose" can't tell you which kind of factory made it.

The chemistry matters too. Conventional viscose is made with carbon disulfide, a solvent the CDC's toxic substances agency links to nerve damage in the workers who breathe it on the job. Conventional viscose plants typically recover only 70 to 75% of it, and the rest can escape into the air around the factory. No rayon is manufactured in the United States today, so the viscose in American closets is made overseas. Our TENCEL™ Modal comes from Lenzing, which recovers its chemicals and returns it to production, and our finished pieces are OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, tested free of harmful substances.

Do Cozy Earth pajamas work if you sweat at night?

For a warm sleeper who rarely soaks through, they'll likely be comfortable. Cozy Earth describes the set as moisture-wicking and says it helps draw heat away during night sweats, and a new garment can do that. A product page can't show you month four, after a season of nightly sweat and weekly washes. If you're drenched most nights, that's the version you'll actually sleep in, so choose a fiber built to stay strong wet, ideally from a named producer like Lenzing so you know how it was made.

What should you look for in pajamas for night sweats?

Start with a fiber that stays strong wet. Then look at how the fabric is built and how it fits when you're lying down.

Fiber: read past the plant

Look for the finished fiber on the label. Modal and lyocell are built to hold up wet; regular viscose and rayon aren't. A named producer, like Lenzing for TENCEL™, tells you how the fiber was made. If you see "bamboo," look for the word next to it. It will say viscose or rayon, and that's the fiber you're buying.

Construction: smooth beats fuzzy

Fabric weight matters less than you'd think. How the yarn and knit are made matters more. Words like high-gauge, interlock and mercerized point to a smooth, dense surface that feels cool to the touch. Be wary of fabric so soft it's almost fuzzy. Part of why it feels warm is physics, and part is how your brain reads touch. A smooth, dense surface meets your skin across more of its area, so heat moves into it the instant it touches you, and your brain reads that as cool. NC State's textile comfort center measures exactly this, and notes that the feeling depends largely on how much of the fabric's surface is in contact with your skin. A brushed surface touches you only at the tips of its fibers, with air trapped in between, so less heat leaves your body and your brain files the fabric as warm. That's the right feeling for a winter throw and the wrong one for night sweats.

Fit: test it lying down

Before you cut the tags, lie on your side, pull your knees up and reach forward. Notice any seam pressing into your shoulder, a top bunching under you, or a waistband that digs in when you curl up. If you run hot, skip the collar: it's an extra layer of fabric right where your body is trying to let heat go. If your size has changed recently, order from today's measurements.

How do these pajama options compare?

The biggest difference is the fiber, and what it does after it's been wet a few hundred times.

Product details checked October 2026. The cotton row describes a category, not a named product.

Which pajamas should you choose?

Choose by what happens at night, not by what feels nicest in the store.

If you sleep warm but rarely wake up damp: choose on feel and coverage. Cozy Earth or a good cotton set will likely do the job.

If you change pajamas in the night: choose the fiber first. Look for TENCEL™ Modal or Lyocell, a smooth knit, a collarless top, free of drawstrings, elastics and other sleep friction points.

If you're buying a gift: buy for what she's told you. If she's mentioned waking up hot or sleeping on top of the covers, that's your answer.

What makes A DOMANI different for night sweats?

A DOMANI Model wearing Day/Night Tee Dress, Hot-Flash Who? Long Sleeve Tee, Perfectly Short Short Shorts and Shorty Racer Dress

A DOMANI is made in Portugal from microTENCEL™, knit from Lenzing™ TENCEL™ fibers made from trees. Cooling and softness are part of the yarn itself: nothing is added, and nothing washes out. We designed it around one promise, wake up dry.

If you have heavy night sweats and typically prefer to sleep naked, try adding a layer and see how much drier you feel. The Stay-Cool Straight Leg Pajama Pant and the Hot-Flash Who? Tee. Both are knit from mercerized TENCEL™ Modal with Micro technology at 44 gauge, a fabric so fine it's like wearing nothing at all. The tee sits close to the skin so heat and moisture move off you quickly. If you prefer long sleeves, the Hot-Flash Who? Long Sleeve Tee is from the same collection. Modal is built to keep its structure wet, which is the point when you sweat into it every night.

A DOMANI won Best Cooling Lounge Set in Oprah Daily's 2025 Menopause O-Awards and is on Canyon Ranch's 2026 Wellness Gold List.

FAQs: what else should you know about Cozy Earth pajamas?

Are Cozy Earth pajamas worth it?

They are if you want a soft, classic set and don't sweat heavily. If night sweats are why you're shopping, judge them on the fiber, which is regular viscose, rather than on softness or price.

Are Cozy Earth pajamas hot to sleep in?

Cozy Earth describes this set as lightweight and temperature-regulating, and new viscose does feel cool. How it feels after months of sweat and washing depends on how well the fiber keeps its structure, which is regular viscose's weak spot.

Is bamboo fabric good for night sweats?

Almost all "bamboo" fabric is viscose, also called rayon, made from bamboo pulp. It feels cool when new, but regular viscose loses about half its strength when wet. For heavy night sweats, Modal or lyocell holds up better.

What's a good Cozy Earth pajamas alternative for night sweats?

Look for sleepwear made from TENCEL™ Modal or Lyocell in a smooth, fine knit. A DOMANI's Golden Hour Stay-Cool Straight Leg Pajama Pant and Hot-Flash Who? Tee are both featherweight TENCEL™ Modal, made for women who wake up wet.

Can I put these pajamas in the dryer?

Cozy Earth's care page says to machine dry the bamboo set normally. A DOMANI recommends hanging or laying flat to dry. Heat shortens the life of any garment, whatever the fiber.
