The Self-Care Gift Guide

If you’ve landed in this specific corner of the internet, chances are you’re shopping for someone that’s going “though the thing” and you’re looking for that gift that says “I’ve got you”, “I’m here for you” no matter what. Read along for our favorites and some unexpected twists.

For the new mom in your life

A luxe white button-up is an essential for a new mom, nursing or not. It looks chic and flattering with absolutely anything and its a no-brainer for nursing.

Here are three options that will not disappoint:

SHIRLEY White, 1947 Italian Oxford

The Shirley, Frank & Eileen, $268

The Deep EndAyr, $145

Etienne Oversized Shirt,  j.crew, $99.50

You know what new moms tend to drink a lot of? Coffee. That's why we love gifting Nespresso machines and pods. You will forever be associated with that single cup of perfectly hot, delicious coffee that is keeping her going. Plus its a gift, just for her.

Nespresso Vertuo, Amazon, $109

Nursing or not, part of being a new mom is sitting there holding the baby and it’s often in the middle of the night and can just be tedious. If your girl loves to read, the Kindle Paperwhite weighs nothing and its literally something she can read in the dark while rocking the baby.

Kindle Paperwhite, Amazon, $159

Newly nursing? We swear by Silverette nipple shields which use real silver ion to heal delicate skin between nursing sessions and Bamboobies reausable hot/cold flax pillows for swelling and let down. Sometimes its the little things.

Silverette Nursing Cups, Nipple Covers, Amazon, $59.99

Bamboobies, Flax Hot/Cold Nursing Pillows, Amazon, $24.94

Don’t forget the A Domani! The crazy post-partum night sweats were the original inspiration for the company and they are real! When her body is changing so quickly and there isn’t tons of time to be “dressed”, gift her the PJs that she can wear all day and night to feel comfortable and absolutely gorgeous. We love the Whisper Criss-Cross for nursing access.

For the loved one with the cancer diagnosis

An unfortunate and annoying side effect for many in cancer treatment is a whole bunch of skin issues and new sensitivities. Avara is a new line from Dhivya Srinivasa, MD, a double board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in breast cancer reconstruction, who thoughtfully created these products for women that are healing. This Barrier Repair Trio is a dream.

Barrier Repair Trio, Avara, $262.00

If she loved Two Truths and Lie as a kid, she will love Actually Curious Cards. The questions are deep and that’s a nice change of pace especially when we know the vast healing powers of connection. Plus, its a fun and different way to pass hours in a treatment room with friends.

We love a good dose of affirmations and manifestations around here and we love Little Words Project. These fully customizable bracelets of inspiration and kindness are a perfect addition to her wrist stack.

Make Your Own Bracelet, Little Words Project, $35

You know what is the worst about cancer treatment, other than literally everything? Night sweats, not being able to sleep despite being bone tired, and having super sensitive skin. That’s why so many women in active cancer treatment rely on A DOMANI to keep them dry, their skin nourished, and be their ally for good rest. And it’s also become a cherished Go-To gift for when one hopes to make their friend with a diagnosis feel extra cared for.

For the one on the perimenopausal and menopausal rollercoaster

I’ve gifted many copies of this gorgeous book of poetry and illustrations over the years to women that have held me through difficult times. In fact, I keep copies on hand to gift because women are truly holding things all the time, and while we are holding everything, everywhere all at once, we also hold each other, and in mid-life we hold so dang much. She will feel seen.

Women Holding Things, by Maira Kalman, $19 at Amazon

This journal offers such a massive return for such a small amount of time spent, that I’ve enthusiastically joined the proverbial chorus that has been shouting about how incredible this simple journal is from the rooftops. If you have a girlfriend that loves to manifest and could benefit from more focus - literally everyone I know - this journal rocks.

The Five Minute Journal, Intelligent Change, $32
Amazon, $29.99

Yet another fun symptom of perimenopause is nighttime light sensitivity. This mighty little clock does not emit blue light and you can dim way down or even turn off its display completely. It also has meditations, white noise, and a not-so-bright night light option. This isn’t a beauty product, but I love the idea of gifting beauty rest.

One thing we are absolutely obsessed with here at A DOMANI is super high quality, luxurious, natural fabrics that are free of harmful chemicals. One fabric that has a halo, but shouldn’t, is bamboo viscose which uses a lot of harmful chemicals and is the majority of what is available out there when you think of traditional bamboo sheets. Our friends at Ettitude created CleanBamboo® Lyocell, using organic solvents and lyocell processing. These sheets feel like water and if you really want to splurge on bedding that is worth it, this is it.

CleanBamboo® Sheets, Ettitude, $459

We’re our own biggest fans and we know you have to experience our garments to really get it. Help your girl sleep through the night and feel like a glam Principessa while doing it. Because, we always deserve to feel rested and our best, but especially in midlife.
